Soirée Benvenuto

Congratulations to all our Soirée performers on such a successful first Soirée of the year. After an unexpected and dramatic power failure on Thursday, 11th March, which we regarded as our dress rehearsal, all performers valiantly returned for a triumphant performance on the following Tuesday. Thank you to pianists Charlotte Evans (Year 7), Tyler Frost (Year 12) and Brendan Symons (Year 12); flautists Belinda Cunningham (Year 11), Layla Davis (Year 10) and Eliza Huckel (Year 11); singers Zara Wigan (Year 11) and Bella Antarakis (Year 12); cellists Michayla Clark (Year 12), Lily McKay (Year 10) and Joel Yin (Year 11); and composer Harrison Jarman (Year 12). It was also a delight to welcome back parents to the audience!

Tertiary Preparation Workshop – Queensland Conservatorium

Registrations for the Queensland Conservatorium’s Tertiary Preparation Workshop are now open. This workshop prepares students to approach the practical and theoretical aspects of the audition process with confidence. Participants will have the opportunity to learn more about requirements for tertiary entry, skills required for auditions and interviews, tools for enhancing executant skills, and theory and aural fundamentals. There will also be sessions on stage fright, warm-up methods, practising effectively and an introduction to My Life as a Musician.

Parents and caregivers will also be given the opportunity to join Queensland Conservatorium Heads of Area as they discuss the Bachelor of Music degree and the future of the working life of a musician.

The workshop will be held at the Conservatorium in South Brisbane from Monday, 29th June to Friday, 3rd July 2021 and costs $495. The schedule will be released later this year.
