Year 10 D & T:

IKEA Excursion

IKEA Excursion

On Wednesday, 17th March, the Stage 5 Design and Technology class took a trip to IKEA in Marsden Park.

This was in preparation for our upcoming assessment task in which we research IKEA’S design choices, regarding ethics and enterprise, aesthetics and manufacturing and how they mirror traditional Scandinavian design. We were to purchase a product and discuss its production, and key design elements.

The whole day was lots of fun as we perused the shelves, spoke to some team members and finally finished the day off with some delicious Swedish meatballs which were the cherry on top of a simply wonderful day. It was a swimmingly successful outing and was such a fun, hands-on way to really familiarise ourselves with the practical elements of the design process.
