Performing Arts

Music Matters

Thanks to all who attended the PAPA meeting on Monday evening. It's great to have the support of parents and as a sounding board to activities in the Performing Arts at SPX. It is greatly appreciated by both staff and students.

As we emerge from COVID times we are now getting back on track with performances. Our Twilight Concert in Week 4 will feature our Strings, Guitars, Orchestra and the Primary Concert Band along with the triumphant return to singing from our Senior Choir. Again we will have an early start of 4.00 pm, and we will ticket the concert through Trybooking. We are allowed to double our numbers from the Term 1 concert so there will be 200 tickets available: 2 adults per family.  Siblings are welcome to attend and do not need to be booked through the Trybooking site.

We urge everyone to stay for the entirety of the concert as there is no need to clear the site after performances.

There will not be a BBQ so we ask that students bring their own afternoon tea. Students will be warming up from 3.15 pm so no student will be allowed to leave the school to purchase afternoon tea.

COVID protocols are still in place so please stay at home if you are unwell.  We ask that every parent signs in with the QR code on arrival, and while you are most welcome to wear a mask it is not compulsory.

As we return to performing in front of live audiences we are still cautious but hopeful that we can expand our performance program as soon as possible.

We also have some of our Ensembles involved in the on-line Sydney Eisteddfod program this year. Students will be informed as to their recording times and other details shortly.

This year we will be conducting a review into performances at SPX. Please feel free to send me an email with your initial thoughts to be taken into consideration. There will also be a survey later this year to let everyone have their say into this area.

We are looking forward to our next performance in Week 4. Stay tuned for booking information.

Drama Matters

Rehearsals continue this term for the Climate Movie. Here is the schedule below. When the filming is finished, we will start working on our script scenes project.

Both Ensembles will be working on scenes from a play (each Ensemble will work on a different play) that will be performed early Term 4.

Air & Land films

I would like to share with you some photos from our filming in the holidays. We spent a lot of time acting in class and improvising to create the script. It is so nice to bring opportunities to students who enjoy working behind the scenes. Each day we had a different crew with some students doubling up their roles. For example, some students who are acting in the other films took on crew roles for the two days of filming with cblok. These roles again are: director, cinematographer, art designer, gaffa, sound. We have our Ocean & Pius films to shoot on 16 & 23 May.
