Youth Mass at Our Lady of Dolours this Sunday
One initiative of Fr Jim last year was to dedicate one Sunday Mass a month as a Youth Mass, with students from Mercy and St Pius X College co-hosting this Mass. Following the easing of government restrictions, our once a month Sunday Youth Masses will re-commence this week with St Pius X hosting the Sunday 5.30 pm Mass at OLD Parish this Sunday, 2 May.
The Year 11 Eucharistic Ministers and Student Leadership Team will be present, along with staff and students of the Performing Arts Department who will provide the musical accompaniment. All students and parents are most welcome to join us. The parish will be providing refreshments at the end of Mass where there will be time for gathering and conversation.
Chapel Mass
This coming Monday morning our Chapel Mass roster will re-commence for Term 2. At 8.00 am our Chapel Mass will be hosted by Mr Kovacic’s Year 9 Religion class. All students are welcome.
Feast of Blessed Edmund Rice
The College will mark the Feast of Blessed Edmund Rice on Wednesday 5 May with an assembly. Our guest speaker and resident archivist, Br Carl Sherrin, will share with the community the lives of recently deceased Christian Brothers who lived by the ideals of Blessed Edmund Rice.
Mother’s Day
Next Friday, 7 May, as a College we will celebrate all the wonderful women in our lives by hosting a Mother’s Day liturgy and a Mother’s Day Mass.
All students and mothers are welcome to join us in the school Gym for a liturgy that will commence at 8.00 am. There will be a photo booth and a number of readings to highlight the scriptural examples of mothers and their role in our lives.
The Junior School will celebrate Mass in the parish of OLD, commencing at 10.30 am. We thank the clergy of OLD in advance for celebrating the Eucharist so that the young men of Years 5 and 6 can remember and acknowledge the wonderful women in their lives who have shaped them into the faithful young men that they are today.
