Prayer

The College was well represented on Sunday at both the Chatswood and Willoughby Memorial Services, with Year 11's Elliot Cook, giving the Occasional Address at the Dawn Service at the Chatswood Garden of Remembrance Dawn Service and Ronan Crispe, Liam Chang and Matthew Brannan laying a wreath at the 7.00 am service at Club Willoughby. Anthony Elliott from Year 11, played the Last Post at respective Anzac Day Services as well.

The College has received high praise from the RSL and members of the public for the outstanding Occasional Address from Elliot and the representation of our students at these Services.

I share with you below the prayer which was read at our College ANZAC Assembly on Monday.

Gracious and loving God, the Cross of Christ is the sign

of your desire for justice and peace for all.

Open our minds to your vision as we remember all who suffered

through Australia and New Zealand’s involvement

in wars, conflicts and peacekeeping operations.

Grant all servicepersons who sacrificed health and life

for the good of all, the gift of your deep peace.

May we who inherit the freedom for which they fought

become instruments of your peace

in our homes, workplaces and world.

We ask this prayer through Christ our Lord.

Amen

ANZAC Day Assembly

Monday morning was a wonderful opportunity to again see the young men of our College display their maturity and reverence as we held our ANZAC Day Assembly.  Students laid a wreath and other St Pius X College commemorative items on our sacred space.  Our Commemorative Address was given by Mr David Reay and Mr Pat Rodgers who also dedicated a plaque to the College of the 2/33rd Battalion who fought both in the Middle East and Papua New Guinea during WWII.

The Battalion's motto is "Strike Hard".  The Battalion has presented an award to SPX Cricket - The 2/33rd Bn Association "Strike Hard" Award for the Most Improved 1st XI player each season.  Recent recipients of the Award, Liam Chang, Liam Kinna and Nicholas Ward presented the plaque to Mr Casey.  The plaque will be proudly displayed in our Oxford Falls campus to commemorate the 2/33rd Bn's service, sacrifice and legacy.

Trumpeter, Anthony Elliot, played the Last Post and Reveille and we held a minute's silence to reflect on those who have served, those who still serve and those who made the ultimate sacrifice.

Lest We Forget.
