Science

Science Week

The context of a scientific investigation brings science to life and allows children to practise science skills such as observing, exploring and asking questions.

Forensics

During Science Week the children at Arlington participated in a Forensic Science Incursion to demonstrate how science can be applied in a real world context.

The class had to work together to piece together the evidence.

“Someone has broken into the school safe and stolen the cake sale money! "

Our young investigators taped off the areas in order to protect any evidence. Clues and evidence then had to be identified, collected, interpreted and analysed. These included fingerprints, impressions, hairs, fibres and 'blood', bones and DNA.

The hall was set up as a crime scene and the children from Kindergarten to the Peppercorns worked together in their class groups to solve the mystery.
