Entries in this category may be fiction, drama or poetry and should be appropriate in style and content for children who are at pre-reading or early stages of reading.
Ages 0-7 years
THE BOOK OF THE YEAR: YOUNGER READERS

Entries in this category may be fiction, drama or poetry and should be appropriate in style and content for readers from the middle to upper primary years.
Ages 8-12 years.
THE PICTURE BOOK OF THE YEAR
Cicada - Shaun Tan
Entries in this category should be outstanding books of the Picture Book genre in which the author and illustrator achieve artistic and literary unity or, in wordless picture books, where the story, theme or concept is unified through illustrations.
Ages 0-18 years (NB. Some of these books may be for mature readers).
THE EVE POWNALL AWARD
Sorry Day - Coral Vass and Dub Leffler
Entries in this category should be books which have the prime intention of documenting factual material with consideration given to imaginative presentation, interpretation and variation of style.
Ages 0-18 years
Library Hours
The library is now open Mondays, Tuesdays and Fridays during fruit and lunchtime.
The library is also open on Fridays before and after school from 8.30pm - 4.30pm. Families are very welcome to come in to the warm library and find shelter from the cold to relax and read or return or borrow a book with their child.
Chess Club Term 3
Chess Club has commenced for Term 3, with the last lesson for the Term on Thursday 19 September. Classes run after school from 3.35-4.35pm in the Library at Arlington.

CAN YOU HELP? CALL OUT FOR VOLUNTEERS!
The work here in the library is never ending! We have a lot of book covering and shelving that needs to be done. So we are doing a call out for any parents who would like to volunteer their time to help out.
