SPOTLIGHT - Year 11

The Year 11 VCAL class has been working with Diamond Valley Special Development School in an Art Project. Our students are split up in the three different classrooms and run an art activity each week. This week was our third week and we have had a number of students leading the event. Zac Siddall confidently, demonstrated the activity in his classroom and inspired the students to create some amazing pieces of art but also some mess. Jess Taylor confidently made sure all the equipment was handled with care and the room leader and each student had just the colours that they required. Unfortunately, Ben was away but Paris, Josh and Marcus confidently led their room in this week’s activity.

Last week, Josh H, Ayden and Connor led their rooms with confidence and the feedback we are continuing to receive is fantastic. Not only are our students going and supporting the DVSDS students with Art Projects but they also have to create a risk assessment and MSDS for all the materials used in their week and present this to the class.

The Year 11 VCAL class has also started another Community Project with Watsonia Heights Primary School. Last Friday 26th July was the beginning of the WHPS Athletics try outs on Friday mornings. Our students were measuring, recording and helping to coordinate the students in Triple Jump, Long Jump, Shot Put, 100m and 200m. This is linked to our Personal Development Skills,  working in a team and measurement for Numeracy. We are looking forward to going back and supporting them for the next few weeks. We have already received positive feedback from the school about how helpful and wonderful our students are for students at Watsonia Heights PS.
