wheels on fire

We met Jude who talked about how he ended up in Australia after becoming a Paralympian in Sri Lanka. He told us his AMAZING story and about how he keeps fit and healthy. I found him really inspiring because he has pushed through some really tough times. We also got to play wheelchair basketball, which was super fun but also really tiring. I believe that we all had an amazing time and an extraordinary day. I definitely learned some life lessons and gained a profound respect for all people with disabilities. I had so much fun and hope I can do it again.

Wheelchair Basketball was really fun and inspired me a lot. When something is really hard, I normally give up - but after seeing Jude, I was really inspired to try and try again. Playing basketball in a wheelchair was amazing and I may not get this opportunity again. It was a really fun experience.

I’ve learned lots of new things from this experience. After hearing Jude’s speech, I felt motivated to respect myself for who I am. I used to feel very insecure about my height, but now I know that I’m not as unlucky as some people as I have well-working arms and legs. The wheelchair basketball is probably my favourite incursion so far, as it was a great experience to try out a new sport that I have never done before.

Jude told his most amazing story about how he became wheelchair -bound. He told us there’s no reason to hate yourself [when things go wrong] and gave us a quote saying "Don’t die before your dead". The wheelchair basketball experience was great!

As I already play basketball it was a nice and very fun experience to play wheelchair basketball. It is a lot different in terms of rules, but it still has the same way of scoring. Using the wheelchair was very hard at first, but I got used to it quickly. Jude was very nice and very inspirational.
