NAPLAN

10th May – 12th May

The National Assessment Program – Literacy and Numeracy (NAPLAN) 2016 for Years 7 and 9 students will be held on Tuesday 10th May, Wednesday 11th May and Thursday 12th May 2016. NAPLAN tests assess student knowledge and skills in Writing, Reading, Language Conventions (spelling, grammar and punctuation) and Numeracy.

We ask that all students in Year 7 and Year 9 undertake the NAPLAN tests. The results of the tests provide diagnostic information for parents and teachers about a child’s performance in Literacy and Numeracy. This information can be used to support teaching and learning programs and improve student achievement.

NAPLAN testing will begin promptly at 9am on each day, with further testing timetabled directly after recess on Tuesday and Thursday.

On the testing days, students will be required to bring with them:

  • 2B or HB pencils
  • an eraser
  • a sharpener
  • a calculator for the Numeracy Calculator Allowed test on Thursday 12th May at 9am

Later in the year you will receive your child’s personal NAPLAN report. The report will describe your child’s particular skills in Reading, Writing, Language Conventions (spelling, grammar and punctuation) and Numeracy. The report will also show how your child performed in relation to national minimum standards. We are confident that the information you receive as a result of your child’s participation in the NAPLAN tests will be valuable in helping you to assess your child’s progress in literacy and numeracy.
