Working Bee

An enormous thank you goes to all the families who joined us for the recent working bee.  We achieved a lot in the gardens around the College, replanting, mulching and weeding.  It was great to have a really positive sense of achievement at the end of the morning when we could look at what we achieved.

NAPLAN

Please see later in this newsletter for the detailed information about the NAPLAN tests which take place next week.  We find the data we get back really useful in working out what students can do, and what they need more help with.  It is really important that students in Years 7 and 9 are at school on the test days.  However, it is also important that they don’t become stressed about the process – no one is judging them on the outcomes!

Concerts

Congratulations to the Music Faculty for the fantastic concerts we had this week.  This follows on the heels of the remarkable concert that was a fundraiser for the Production.  Past students returned to perform both vocally and with scenes from previous productions.  To all those who were in the audience, yes, I was crying in the last piece put on by the staff – they were tears of hysterical laughter!  I haven’t seen anything that funny in years.  Thank you to all our wonderful performers.  We love seeing you returning to perform again, and it is amazing to hear what you are doing with your lives.

We are really looking forward to the Winter Arts Festival over the next two weeks – it will be an absolute feast of music and performance!  Good luck to all the students involved.

Enrolment 2016

Applications for Year 7 2017 are closing next week in the primary schools.  If you have a child in Grade 6 you want to come next year, please make sure you get your forms in and note that you have a sibling claim.  There seems to be increased interest in the College again this year, which is a real compliment to the very hard work of the teachers here, and we don’t want you to miss out.
