What's happening in our

learning communities?

PRESENTED BY THE YEAR 4 CLASSES

NUMERACY:

In Numeracy lessons we have been learning about fractions. We created fraction people and wrote what fraction of the body was the face, hair, body etc. We even thought they looked a little bit like Minecraft people.

WRITING:

In genre writing we have been looking at different types of poems. Here are some poems we have written:

Alyssia- Acrostic

D- ancing is the best because you get to show your skills and talent.

A-nyone can dance if you try your hardest and put effort in.

N-oone can’t dance. They can move their feet and body.

C-horeography makes you a professional dancer.

I-Love dancing because I’m a natural dancer.

N-ever give up and try your hardest. You got this!

G-ive it a try and see how you go.

Rejoice- Acrostic

H-ome is my safe place.

O-ver looking cars and gates.

M-y special place.

E-very morning I eat breakfast.

Kavyansh- Ode to a tree

Oh, trees I can’t imagine how good you really are. You do so much stuff for us, like give us oxygen to breathe, you give us your wood for houses, shield for when its raining and you are a home for many animals. That’s why I will love you forever.

Talisha- Limerick

Roblox is the best.

So much better than the rest.

In Roblox you have to make friends.

So I hope that it never ends.

Lets put it to the test.

Lucas- Acrostic

S-pecial sport around the world.

O-riginal game for thousands of years.

C-atchy sport to play.

C-hallenging skills to master.

E-nergetic matches to watch.

R-idiculously hard matches.

HASS:

In HASS this term we have been studying different Biomes from around the world.  We recreated some in a diorama form.

ABORIGINAL GAMES:

Year 4 students have been researching traditional Indigenous games which we have played as part of HASS and Science. Students have created how-to-play guides which they have shared with their classmates before trying the games.

We’ve had a blast trying different games and making changes so that they are fair for everyone to join in.

‘We learned how to play Marn-Grook which is similar to ‘Marks Up’.  We had to kick and catch the ball in the gym. The rule was originally whoever caught the ball went up as the new kicker, but we changed it to whoever got the ball even if it bounced.  This made it more fair and fun.’ETHAN H

‘Tjapu Tjapu is another game we played which is like ‘One Bounce’. To play the game you have to work as a group using a push force to keep the ball in the air before gravity can pull it to the ground. The goal was to get the most hits in a row.  Our record was 18!’ –  MARTIN Z
