From the Principal

Dear parents and carers

Welcome to week 9

Congratulations to our Tournament of Minds Teams who competed at Adelaide High a couple of weeks ago. As I said in the last edition, the students had worked for many weeks after school and on weekends, supported by Miss Burton and Mr Burness, to prepare themselves for the big event. It was great to see the students present their work and receive positive feedback from the judges. The students were wonderful representatives of our school.

This term has seen students from Reception to Year Six participate in after school soccer clinics run by Simply Football. It has been great to see such strong numbers engage in the program with a mixture of boys and girls working together.

The program has given students an opportunity to develop their soccer skills, understanding of the game as well as interacting socially with their fellow classmates. It has been pleasing to see the students make good progress and display high enthusiasm throughout the sessions.

Thank you to the coaches for their work with the children , well-done to Anita Marino for making it all happen and a big thanks to Nick Hrisafinas for assisting the coaches at the sessions.

I am looking forward to attending the Catholic Schools' Music Festival next Monday evening at the Festival Theatre. Our choir will be joining hundreds of other students on stage to entertain families and guests with a showcase of songs and instrumental pieces. Congratulations to the students and Mrs Williams on their tireless preparation and commitment to ensuring a brilliant performance. I know all are keen to get on stage and sing their loudest at such a prestigious venue.  All the best St Gab's Choir, though I should be saying, "break a leg".

The tender process for our capital works will commence on November 8, with the request for submissions being circulated and remaining open for a four week period.

Please keep the date free for our annual Sports Day.  It will be held in Term 4 on Friday 28th October, Week 2.  We look forward to seeing the community come together and celebrate a great day.   More information next term.

Student Led Conversations are taking place this week. Many have taken the opportunity to meet with their child's teacher for a 15 minute learning conversation.  If you have not yet responded to the invite, but wish to do so, please make contact directly with your child's teacher.

Due to tomorrow's public holiday, the week 9 Assembly will be held on Friday instead.  All are welcome to join us in the gym at 2 15. We will be led by the school's Earth Care Squad.

I wish all a safe and restful holiday (if you're getting one) and I look forward seeing you all back for term 4!
