At Korumburra Secondary College our vision is to develop lifelong learners who are respectful, resilient, strive for excellence and are productive members of their community.
To do this, we believe that we have a shared responsibility with our community to create a positive learning environment for the children and young people at our school. Together, if we model positive behaviours, treat all members of our community with respect, and work collaboratively, we know this enhances outcomes for the children and young people in our care.
We would encourage students, staff and parents/carers to read our Statement of Values and Philosophy policy (http://www.korumburrasc.vic.edu.au/wordpress/index.php/forms/).
Child Safety and Wellbeing at Korumburra Secondary College:
Information for families and the school community
The Victorian Government has announced new Child Safe Standards to further strengthen child safety across organisations, including schools. The new standards recognise the critical importance of families and the broader school community in maintaining and promoting child safety and wellbeing.
Korumburra Secondary College has reviewed and updated our child safety policies and procedures to ensure they meet the requirements of the new standards. These are available to view on our school’s website at http://www.korumburrasc.vic.edu.au/wordpress/index.php/forms/
We are committed to continuous improvement in our approach to child safety and wellbeing and welcome feedback from families and members of our school community on ways we can further strengthen our child safety policies, procedures and practices.
If you have any suggestions, comments or questions, please email attention: TSL Leader at korumburra.sc@education.vic.gov.au
Please be aware that students on school property before 8.30 am and after 3.40 pm are not supervised by school staff. We would appreciate it if your child/ren are not on the school grounds outside of the supervised hours.
The Compass Parent Portal is an online portal that allows you to access up-to-date information about our school and your child’s progress. The portal is accessible via the web and also via the Compass School Manager App (available for download via the App store on your device).
Within the parent portal are many different features including the ability to:
The Camps, Sports and Excursions Fund helps eligible families to cover the costs of school trips, camps and sporting activities.
If you have a valid means-tested concession card, such as a Veterans Affairs Gold Card, Centrelink Health Care Card or Pensioner Concession Card, or are a temporary foster parent, you may be eligible. There is also a special consideration category for asylum seeker and refugee families.
Payment amounts are approx $225 for eligible secondary school students. Payments are made direct to the school to use towards expenses relating to camps, excursions and sporting activities for the benefit of your child.
If you applied for CSEF through our school last year, you do not need to complete an application form this year, unless there has been a change in your family circumstances.
If you would like to apply for the first time, please contact the school office on 5655 1566 and ask for an application form.
You can also download the form, and find out more about the program and eligibility, on the Department of Education and Training’s Camps, Sports and Excursions Fund web page.
Check with the school office if you are unsure, and please return completed forms to the school office as soon as possible.
The Uniform Shop is now located at the Burra Sports and Cycles shop, 39 Commercial Rd, Korumburra. Phone Number - 5655 1724
Please find attached, canteen menu.
You can now follow the canteen news on Instagram - ksccanteen where new items and daily specials are on the fridge in canteen.
Lunch orders should be in at recess so as not to miss out on what you want for lunch.
Please write your name and food item ordered on the bag. Paying when you put your lunch order in is preferred, however you can either put your money in the bag or pay at the Canteen.
For safety reasons, we have a designated student pick up and drop off zone at KSC. We ask that you respect the safety plan we have in place and only collect or drop off your child/ren within the loop (yellow line).
Parents are not to drop off or pick up children from the bus loop.
We thank you for your support in helping us to keep our school community safe.
Lost property is located in the library. Please come and ask us if you have lost or misplaced an item.
Hand washing is the single most effective way to prevent the spread of infections. You can spread certain "germs" (a general term for pathogens like viruses and bacteria) casually by touching another person. You can also catch germs when you touch contaminated objects or surfaces and then you touch your face (mouth, eyes, and nose).
Good health habits are important and include:
A reminder to students who travel on the buses to and from school, that masks must be worn at all times while on the bus unless you have a genuine exemption . At present, this is the law and students who do not wear masks may be refused travel.
A bus pass is required if you are intending to catch a bus that you do not normally catch e.g. going to a friends house or sports training. Also a pass is required if you are getting off your normal bus at a different stop.
In order to get a bus pass , the bus coordinator must receive a note or a phone call from a parent/carer. The Bus Coordinator (Ms Jenkin) is situated in the library and passes can be collected before school, recess and lunchtimes.
