Year 11 Psychology ARTVO Excursion

What influences a person's perception of the world?

In Year 11 Psychology, students explore vision as an aspect of human perception. They analyse the relationship between sensation and perception and consider how biological, psychological and social factors can influence a person’s perception of visual stimuli, and explore circumstances where perceptual distortions of vision may occur.

To deepen their psychology knowledge, the year 11s went to Artvo where they were immediately transported into a world of optical illusions with larger-than-life murals. Students found the experience delightful as they were not only viewing the many artworks on display but immersing themselves into them and applying their knowledge of the visual perception principles covered in our psychology classes.

Year 12 Psychology Yoga Session

In Year 12 Psychology, students examine what it means to be mentally healthy. They explore the concepts of resilience and coping strategies that contribute to the maintenance of mental health and wellbeing. To help combat stress and anxiety, all year 12 psychology students were treated to a one hour Yoga ‘Yin’ – Relaxation & Myofascial Release session led by the very calming yoga instructor, Chloe from Active Schools.

Year 11 Biology Healesville Sanctuary Excursion

The Year 11 Biology students visited Healesville Sanctuary and explored adaptations for survival in a variety of animals. They performed a behavioural ethogram for a platypus and attended the entertaining and informative bird show. The students were enthusiastic and engaged and a credit to the school.

Primary School Visits

Each year Lyndale Secondary College hosts a series of exciting science experiments for local primary school students. This time the grade 2 students were able to have a go at conducting their own chromatography, falling spheres and curious colours of milk experiments. Thank you to Ms Kennedy for organising the event and our science teachers, Ms Bulut and Ms Franklin for running the sessions.
