In and Out of the Classroom

Students are Authors and Illustrators

Our Grade 3 students love having books read to them, but the books need to be written first! Year 9-10 students of Japanese have put the knowledge and understanding of Japanese vocabulary and grammar into practice and written a book (pictured above). The students also illustrated their book then practiced reading it before travelling to the Junior School to read them to the small groups of Grade 3 students.

Connor: 'It was intriguing cause you could write what you wanted.'

Xavier: 'It was educational – I learnt some new words.'

Mitchell: 'At first, I thought writing books for children would be interesting and it ended up being fun.'

Coen: 'It’s been cool and excited to go back to Grade 3 so soon after Work Experience and show them what I have been doing in Japanese.'

Oscar: 'The extension of taking our work to the Junior School was good to be able to teach a young grade a bit more about Japanese.'

Learning Through Comics

Year 9E has been learning about ionisation which has led to this impressive comic strip being created to demonstrate the process. Pictured is co-creator Patrick Mazimpaka.

Mount Mawson Excursion

Our Year 8s continue to visit Mount Mawson during Outdoor Recreation. The boys are showing curiosity and leadership, as they grow in confidence while exploring Mount Field National Park. We are incredibly proud of their attitude and sense of responsibility while on the recent excursions.
