STEM MAD WINNERS!

This week the Year 6 STEM Girls went to Melbourne to represent St Mary's Echuca and the Sandhurst diocese at the Nation STEM MAD Conference.

The two teams had to present their design process and prototypes to upwards of 1500+ visitors and exhibitors from all around Australia. It was an amazing experience to be able to share with other award winners from both Primary and Secondary schools all our hard work!

We also got to meet Dr Jordan Nguyen a Biomedical Engineer who specialises in using technology to assist people with disabilities. He thought St Mary's projects were excellent!

Keep an eye out in the Riv Herald next week for a special interview and photo the girls did today!

I would like to thank the parents of Ellen Hennessy, Bella Lia, Elisha Fonseka, Maggie Oliver and Jessica Knight for taking time out to come to the conference. I appreciate your support.

I would also like to thank Alison, Adam and Ewan Rosser for allowing us the opportunity to work with Ewan and use his story to highlight the need for more assistive sport technology for children. Your support with this project really helped us greatly!

And who knows what can come of an idea!

We can’t wait to hear how you go!

Congratulations to all of our SERVE Graduate Outcome Award Winners

Year 1 Healy Star Award Recipients

Disney Day - Thursday 15th September

Our students have reached their PBIS goal for Term 3. The Year 6 students have selected a Disney Day as a reward for the positive behaviours shown this term. We don’t wish to put any extra pressure on families to dress up so students are encouraged to wear casual clothes or dress as a Disney character if they wish. Year levels will celebrate with Disney themed activities.

P-2 Tabloid Sports

We are excited that on Friday 9th September, our Prep, 1 & 2 students will be participating in their annual Tabloid Sports.  This will be held onsite at school.  Last year was a great success with the older students helping, so we have decided to continue this tradition. The Grade 5 students will be using their leadership skills to help run the activities with the supervision of the teacher following the group.

All Prep/1/2 students will be placed in a multi-age group to help them get to know other students in the Healy community.  This is also helpful for the Prep students to watch the older students modelling the skills required for the task.

It is a great day for students to be participating in fun activities, showing sportsmanship and competing for their house colour.

WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW:

Students can wear either their normal sports uniform or their house colour t-shirt.

Students will participate in events throughout the day.

There will be plenty of support from teachers and other staff for those students who are feeling a little anxious about this day.

To support those children who feel anxious, we are inviting parents to come only at 2.05 pm to the Prep oval to watch the Sprints and Relays.

If there are any questions regarding the day, please email Jordy Hay at  pe@smechuca.catholic.edu.au
