AROUND THE SCHOOL

We are never alone in sharing the faith, because it is the Lord with me who transmits the faith, and Jesus promised: “I will be with you every day until the end of the world.”

SAMARITAN'S PURSE OPERATION CHRISTMAS CHILD

This year we are supporting the charity Samaritan's Purse in Operation Christmas Child. The children had a guest speaker attend their classroom to show them how this works and how the children benefit from receiving your donations for the boxes. We are hoping to fill 2 shoe boxes per classroom. These boxes cost $10 each to send and we would appreciated any assistance in helping to send the boxes for Samaritan's Purse. You can support this by donating up to $10 via CDFpay under 'Donations'.  Any donated monies above the postage costs will be forwarded onto Samaritan's Purse.

CASUAL DAY:  On the last day of term, Friday 16th September, the students can come to school dressed in their favourite Sporty Team Colours. This casual day is A fundraiser to assist us to post the boxes.  Your donation via CDFpay will be very much appreciated.

BOOK WEEK 15th Aug - 19th Aug

Last week at St Laurence's, we celebrated all things books. Reading is a large part of our school culture. The CBC (Children's Book Council)  theme this year was 'Dreaming with Eyes Open'. Books and libraries have been a large part of many people's lives. For some children and adults too, books offer a respite from difficult or challenging times. When you read you go to another place, you do indeed 'dream with eyes open'. This Children's Book Week, we encourage you to visit a library, escape for a while, share a book with a child each day and dream with your eyes open. Thank you to all the parents and carers who supported our library by purchasing books. The figures are not yet finalised, but will receive a good number of books in commission, which will be added to our library collection.
