SPORT

Hello Everyone,

How good are the Olympics. I actually need them to end so I can start going to bed at a decent hour! So many wonderful lessons to be learnt from watching these incredible athletes. Of course swimming is my favourite with a daughter who has competed at State and National level for the last 3 years, but there are so many good things to watch. I particularly loved listening to Rohan Browning’s interviews after his races. The Matildas are a delight to watch even though I feel like I am on the edge of my seat the whole time and the minute I look away a goal is scored. Anyway I do hope the Olympics has inspired many great athletes amongst our students to continue their paths, as the benefits of sport are so incredible.

Beachside Soccer- has been moved to Friday 13th August.   The venue is Bailey Reserve, East Boundary Road (next to GESAC). Unfortunately spectators are not allowed to attend this event in line with SSV COVID rules.

Hoop Time

Hoop Time has been postponed for the Senior year 5 and 6 students. The new date and time will be announced as soon as I know further details. As this competition is taking place at an indoor venue there are different density quotients compared to outdoor competitions. There are a number of schools involved with up to 400 students participating.

The organisers of Hoop Time have indicated that the Year 3 and 4 competition will go ahead as planned on Tuesday 10th August at MSAC. Please ensure your children come prepared for this day. They will know their teams by Friday.

Students must wear their full sport uniform including WHITE socks and runners suitable to play on court surfaces. Students are not permitted to use the cafe on this day, therefore all required lunch and snacks must be brought from home. A drink bottle is ESSENTIAL.

HOLT District Athletics

I am currently finalising teams but need to do this onsite with the students so I have not quite gotten to everyone yet. The HOLT Athletics Carnival will be held at Duncan McKinnon on Monday 6th September. More information on this will be given at a later date.

Take Care everyone and remember to go to bed early and don’t stay up too late watching the Olympics.
