Infection Control/ Education

Infection control: A big thank you for all your support and great work assisting with covid 19 second dose vaccination roll out for the residents on the 9th of June and monitoring of the residents after the vaccine. The roll out went better than expected. 72 residents and 28 staff were vaccinated on the day. Well-done and thank you all! We are currently awaiting a date for the second dose for those who received their first dose on the 9th

Education:

Below is a link of a pdf that staff who do documentation can read and refer to for documentation. There seem to be gaps in our current documentation. Please make sure that you add as much relevant information as possible and following appropriate language as shown in the link below.

For example if a resident is agitated, instead of just saying they were agitated, please state what they were doing i.e resident restless, pacing up and down the hall way.

Example 2, resident had a fall this afternoon, instead say, resident was found lying on their back in the lounge room at approx. 1630hrs.

In most cases PCAs do not have to do progress notes, however when you enter your personal hygiene, please make sure to include if the resident is meant to shower mon, wed and frid for example and they refused to shower, then make note of that in the personal hygiene section for example, Mary was given a sponge today per her request, she refused to have a shower. Per her care plan, she was due to shower today. Handed over for staff to try tomorrow.

Be mindful when documenting that your documentation can be read by a number of people including accreditors, lawyers or even judges. Hence why it is very important to document more effectively

Manad: We have been using MANAD for a month now and we all seem to be getting the hang of it, well done.

Just a reminder for staff that do neuroobs, to make sure that they are done as scheduled and documented appropriately on MANAD

Also there should be one parent for food and fluid charting and the rest just monitoring, do not create a new food and fluid charting each time, instead commence it from ‘My Task’.

We hope to be updating to a newer version of MANAD 5.10 on the 28th of July 2021
