QR Codes

All Victorian businesses and workplaces are now required to use the Victorian Government QR Code Service. While an enforcement amnesty has been in place, from 11.59pm on 1 July 2021, use of the Victorian Government QR Code Service is mandated. Consequently, all residential aged care facilities (RACFs) must have the Victorian QR Code Service in place from 11.59pm on 1 July 2021.

The use of the QR Code Service will simplify and expedite Department of Health contact tracing in the event of an outbreak. RACFs must ensure that every person attending a facility has checked in no matter how long they are at the premises. This includes all:

  • staff (including contractors, volunteers and students)
  • Visitors

All staff will need to either scan the QR Code using their own mobile device or use the Kiosk QR Code tablet located at the reception desk on arrival.

Please note that this does not replace the required daily attestations confirming that you are free from symptoms related to coronavirus (COVID-19) which must continue to be completed on entry.

Residents and ambulance workers do not need to check in. Residents who are leaving and returning to RACFs do not need to check-in using the QR Code Service.

Emergency services workers (fire, police, ambulance) do not need to check-in and out using the QR Code Service.

Covid-19 Vaccination

The Prime Minister has recently announced the decision to mandate vaccination for aged care workers by mid-September.

This announcement is just that, an announcement without any detail on how it is to be delivered, enforced and more importantly supported.

I will be providing further details to you all as soon as these are available.

A big thank you to staff (50% of you) that have had the first round or both rounds of your vaccinations.

I encourage those of you that have not been vaccinated to visit the COVID-19 eligibility checker on the health.gov.au website and seek the appropriate vaccine to ensure the safety of our residents, your fellow workers and you and your families.

Access (Swipe) Card

From Friday 2 July 2021 to access any door that has an electronic keypad you will need your swipe card.  Please collect from reception or the supervisor after hours if you have not done already.

The pin code for all doors will disabled from Friday 2 July 2021 with the exception of entry and exit into the Enterprise Unit.

Re-accreditation

We have been notified by the Aged Care Quality and Safety Commission that our application for re-accreditation for Wharparilla Lodge has been approved.

We will have an unannounced site audit from an assessment team at any time between the 29 June 2021 and the 29 November 2021.

We will be holding in service education sessions during July so we can all fully understand what to expect during an unannounced site audit.

Regards
