A Very Successful Rainbow Day!

Congratulations to the students in Year 5 who held our first, very successful student op-shop on the last day of Term 2. 

Halima, Sehaj, Ornila, Chinmayi, Aiza, Mareta, Vethashri and Vidhussha had been working on this project for several months, collecting items from home and making their own jewellery to sell to students. They decided they wanted to raise money for Covid relief abroad, as they and many of our students have families affected by the pandemic overseas. Working with these students, we developed the idea of an op-shop, where we could seek more donations from staff and students, choose a fundraising day, run the shop and raise money for the Red Cross. The students were very determined and worked tirelessly to ensure their shop was a success. And a HUGE success it was – 

they raised $1800 for the Red Cross!

The staff at Dohertys Creek are so proud of their work, and many students are now inspired to take action in similar ways. Well done! You are an inspiration to our school community!
