Hello Evans community, I hope you are all keeping well during this difficult time. It's been so sad not being onsite and seeing the smiling faces of all our students. We have been looking at ways to engage with our students as well as reward them for all their hard work at home.
Evans Treats
Over the past 6 weeks, we have seen over 500 students nominated for working hard and 50 students have been awarded an Evans Treats package to share with the family. This was to acknowledge the student for their hard work and dedication during this lockdown period. I enjoy receiving photos from these lucky students and have shared many online for others to see. My favourite part of this initiative is speaking to some of the parents to congratulate their children. The families are so proud of their child's success whilst also incredibly thankful to the teachers and staff at Evans High School. Well done EVERYONE and keep up the good work!
Whose Kitchen Rules
In Round One, we had Shamala and Shainie whose kitchens did rule. We had 9 contestants enter this cooking from home competition and had some outstanding submissions. We are just finishing up Round Two and will announce the winners next week. It has been so lovely to see students and families working together to create some old family favourites as well as recipes they have found online. The judging takes place using photos & videos that students have provided of the cooking process and the finished product. I just wish we could sample all the wonderful dishes that have been created. I encourage all student to have a go at a recipe for Round Three.
Parent & Friends Meetings
We haven't had the opportunity to host any parent & friends meeting during our lockdown. We are trying to connect with parents regularly using email, SMS and social media. We may look at running an online meeting at some stage and details for this will be shared via email, sms and social media.
I wish all your families the very best during this time.
Stay connected and stay safe.
