Book Week at Trinity

Friday 20th August to Friday 27th August

Later this term we are looking forward to celebrating Book Week with the whole school community at Trinity. We are hopeful that we will all be back at school to participate in some wonderful activities. Book Week is usually quite a large celebration at Trinity. We have traditionally enjoyed many activities across the whole week, and once again, we have planned an exciting week for our children.

The aim of Book Week is for the children to be immersed in rich literature (through books that have been chosen by the Children’s Book Council of Australia) and to engage in fun learning activities that promote the enjoyment of reading.

This year’s theme for Book week is ‘Old Worlds, New Worlds, Other Worlds’.

The children will be encouraged to ‘dress up’ as their favourite book character or something related to this theme as part of our Book Week celebrations. The ‘Dress Up Day’ will be held on Monday 23rd August and fingers crossed we hope that we will be able to gather as a whole school community for our Parade at 9am.

Across Book Week, the children will be involved in many exciting learning opportunities such as a special visit from author Michael Wagner, ‘Surprise Readers’ in the classrooms, a voting booth in the library, art activities related to the Book Week literature and more!

We encourage families to be part of this exciting week with us and we hope to see you all dressed in your favourite costume for our parade. Start thinking about your costumes now so that you are well and truly ready for the day. If you are stuck for ideas please have a chat with your child’s teacher.
