Year 10 Study Tour

This year Study Tour will take place from the 5th-9th of December staying at DARE Adventure Camp near Dwellingup. Workplace Tours will include visits to a number of agricultural and industrial enterprises between Denmark and Dwellingup, including Manjimup, Bunbury, Collie, Harvey and Mandurah.

In a change from previous years, we will be taking some industry experts from our own farm to support our visits to Patane Produce (Horticulture) and Harvey Beef.  We are excited to have these valuable staff members with us.

Plans are set and you will soon receive all the relevant information and an invitation to book a place on the tour, costs are to be set at $350 for the week.

Study Tour is for Year 10 Students and offers a fantastic opportunity to visit amazing places as well as spend quality time with classmates and friends.  Last year at DARE Adventure Camp some students challenged themselves in many different ways; such as climbing and abseiling.  It is also a positive experience in looking after each other.  A roster for mealtimes and clean ups is used to ensure all students have a turn at looking after the group in some way.

Year 12

As the Year 12 students of 2022 move off to new adventures, I would like to congratulate them all for their approach to learning and ability to take on the challenges faced this year. The period of time when they have attended school has been unlike any other time.  We are very proud of how they have coped with Covid restrictions and interruptions.  Even through this tricky time we have seen some real successes.

The 2022 Graduation ceremony will take place on Friday November 18th and this will be our chance to celebrate and acknowledge these amazing young people.

Before that, for some, there are some exams to complete, the final challenge in the ATAR program. SCSA exams are occurring on the following days.

Revision can be complicated, remember to study to your style, if you find reading text books difficult, take regular breaks and maybe look for visual resources too.  Test papers from previous years are very useful in understanding how questions and tasks might be structured.  Talk to your teachers about getting ‘past papers’ or access end of year past papers here:

2023 into the future

Year 10s have had the opportunity to select their preferred courses and subjects for next year.  This is a new process for us. I appreciate that it is different to years gone by, however, our aim is to offer a broader, more effective learning program enabling students to learn in academic, agricultural and trades areas without compromise.

If you are unsure about how this will affect your child’s education please contact us, we will make every effort to assure you that we are working towards better outcomes for students and where their education can take them.

Trades News - Automotive

On Friday, Automotive students took part in a class truck demonstration, kindly provided by Albany Freight Lines.

Scotty who delivered the presentation to the students was overwhelmed with the schools facility and very impressed with the way students conducted themselves, this included Ian Bock's attempt at blowing the air horn to death!  Scotty also mentioned that FLG were in the process of recruiting apprentices for next year and encouraged some of our students to apply.

Although this was a small industry event, students appreciated the realistic nature of the lesson.

After the presentation our Year 10 students continued to work on their vehicles.

Equine

It’s been a busy start to Term 4 with most Year 11’s completing their Check and Treat unit. Some of the students were even lucky enough to see the Vet stitch-up an injured horse (not so lucky for Charlie Brown).

We have also done some cattle movement.

Year 10’s have started their unit on Basic Riding Skills and have been jumping in lessons.

Year 12’s have finished up and Zoe had a nice trail ride out on Buddy to finish off her schooling.
