Year 12’s

The recent Year 12 dinner and their last days on site have been enjoyable and all students by now have completed course work. It is wonderful to see so many students walk away with a range of personal and academic achievements.

ATAR students remain to complete their exams and we wish them success.

I am looking forward to the 18th November where we have a huge event celebrating student success across Year 10 – 12.

Subject Selections

During the early part of Term 4 parents and Year 10 students have been involved in subject selection interviews.

We have now presented information to Year 11’s about offerings for Year 12 in 2023. There will be some students who will be looking at adjusting their courses and we will have conversations with parents if this is occurring with your child.

We have been reviewing our timetabling and offerings to maintain a focus on Agriculture and Trades, while also giving students added choice and skills in these industry areas to prepare them for employment in these fields.

More information will follow soon to parents of incoming Year 10’s.

Work Experience

Well done to so many students in Year 10 and Year 11 who have been able to set in place some valuable work experience opportunities.

Year 11 students NOT participating in Certificate III Wool Handling / Cert III Agriculture activities will complete a week of work experience in week 7.

All Year 10’s will be attending work experience from December 12th for the week (after the Study Tour).

Should you have any questions or need support, please do not hesitate to call the College and speak with Mrs Lockyer who is coordinating all placements.

Attendance

We understand that at times family commitments and personal health issues can impact student attendance. The College does an amazing job in ensuring students can walk away with a range of certification and skills. This becomes difficult to achieve if students are missing too many days.

We have noticed a number of students whose attendance is seen as a concern and we encourage parents to continue to support their child and the College with them maintaining regular attendance. For example, in some instances students have been leaving site early on a Friday and/or returning a day late after a weekend. This can have a detrimental effect on their course work.

Absences add up. Missing just 2 days a month means a child misses 10% of the school year. We are training students to cope with workplace expectations and when students have high attendance rates they improve their employment prospects and chances of graduating.

Year 12 Student Council Nominations

We have offered the Year 11 students the opportunity to nominate themselves to be Student Councillors. A nomination form was issued to students during week 3 and they should have completed & submitted this by complete some information and submit their form by 4pm Friday 28th October. The Year 11 cohort will then vote.

The role of the Student Councillor is one that can assist students develop their leadership skills while also providing opportunities to represent the year group. We look forward to obtaining nomination forms from a range of students at the College.
