Raise Foundation 2023
Altona College is proud to be partnering with the Raise Foundation in 2023. The Raise Program involves a group of our 13-15 year old students working one-on-one with a trained mentor from the local community to build a trusted relationship. The program is designed to help young people better cope with life’s challenges. The skills they learn in the program will be useful to them all through life. Students can work on the week topic or set the agenda themselves and use the time to discuss what’s important to them.
Safety comes first
The Raise Foundation will provide young people with a volunteer mentor who works with your child one-to-one for 23 weeks. Mentors are screened for both child safety and suitability, completing police and working with children checks, as well as being trained to meet national youth safety requirements.
The program will run at Altona College at the same time each week across Terms 2 and 3 and the first 3 weeks of Term 4. All sessions are facilitated by a qualified counsellor. They are responsible for supervising the volunteer mentors who work one-to-one with your child. Up to 15 students from the school can be invited to participate in the program.
At this stage, the Raise Foundation are seeking volunteer mentors who may be interested in being a part of the program. If you know of anyone in our local community who may be interested in mentoring some of our amazing students, please encourage them to following the QR codes on the attached posters or visit https://raise.org.au/
