SEMESTER ONE REPORTING - SUBJECT COMPLETION

Semester One Reports will be released at the end of this Semester.

Parents should be aware that if a student has a high amount of absence from school and/or has completed a low proportion of the assessment program, the subject teacher will discuss the matter with the relevant Head of Learning Area to determine a fair and just course of action in terms of the allocation of a Semester mark and Semester grade for the subject. It may not be possible to allocate a Semester mark or Semester grade for a particular subject if a student has completed a small proportion of the assessment program.

KEEPING EXAMINATIONS IN PERSPECTIVE

Sacred Heart College is constantly on a journey to help students develop and refine the skills and qualities they require to be able to perform at their best in examinations. These skills are developed through strategic practice and are also enhanced through the experiences of students.

Students and parents/caregivers are reminded to keep examinations in perspective. Whilst we obviously would like all students to perform at their best and accurately reflect their learning, the Semester One Examinations provide students with a valuable and ‘different’ assessment experience from which to learn.

Students will learn the many routines, protocols and expectations associated with examinations and will learn from what goes right for them and what goes wrong. Please remember that whilst examinations have some importance, they are NOT THE ONLY form assessment taken into account when calculating semester marks and grades.

YEAR 10 EXAMINATIONS

A reminder that Year 10 Examinations will continue into next week. Examinations will be held on the following dates:

  • Monday 13 June - Mathematics (PCG, P1 and P2)
  • Tuesday 14 June - Science (PCG, P1 and P2)
  • Wednesday 15 June - Humanities (PCG, P1 and P2)

Students are required to attend normal classes in Periods 3-6.

WESTERN AUSTRALIAN CERTIFICATE OF EDUCATION (WACE) CREDIT FOR ENDORSED PROGRAMS

Students can receive credit towards the achievement of the WACE for participating in and completing Endorsed Programs. Students are requested to submit copies of Endorsed Program participation/completion to the staff in the Pastoral Care Centre (PCC) or directly to me via email (cicchini@sacredheart.wa.edu.au) by Friday 29 July (Week 2, Term 3). If evidence of participation has previously been provided to the College, you are not required to provide the same evidence again, although you may wish to check this with me. Parents will soon receive a detailed letter in relation to Endorsed Programs.

YEAR 11 AND 12 SEMESTER ONE MARKS AND GRADES

A reminder that the marks and grades that appear on the Year 11 and 12 Semester One Report are PROGRESS marks and grades. The only marks and grades that are sent to the School Curriculum and Standards Authority (SCSA) are those achieved at the completion of the 2022 academic year, except for Year 11 students who have withdrawn from Semester One courses. Year 11 students will have their Semester One grades for these courses sent to SCSA if they have completed sufficient assessments to determine a mark and a grade for the subject from which they have withdrawn.
