Julie Ward 

English Teacher &

SRC and Student Leadership Liaison

Co-ordinator 

 

Julie has been a member of the Nossal staff since 2019 and although she is teaching English this year, she has also previously taught Humanities at Nossal. Having started her teaching career in 1987, she has served as both English and LOTE domain leader (having also taught French) as well as Literacy leader at her previous school.  Julie now holds the position of SRC and Student Leadership Liaison Co-ordinator and enjoys seeing students being empowered to use confident voices and demonstrate leadership qualities both in the school and wider community.  Outside of school, Julie has been married for thirty years and has three grown up children, the youngest of which graduated from Nossal High School in 2016.  In her spare time, she enjoys reading, supporting the Western Bulldogs, and travelling throughout Australia and overseas. 

 

 

 

Dale Sutcliffe

VCE Commerce

Teacher

 

 

Dale Sutcliffe is a teacher of VCE Commerce and has taught VCE Accounting, Business, Economics as well as Humanities in years 7-10. This year Dale is teaching VCE economics.   Dale has a long career in commerce and commenced his career Deloittes chartered accounting in the consulting division, he has worked internationally for Toyota, as well as periods in Europe and the U.S. in the building products industry and environment control as well as ten years in managing large franchise organisations in roles as national manager, General manager and CEO. It is his belief that all students should be exposed to how the economy and commerce works in order to better perform at work and to vote to get better value from our tax dollars. Dale is a strong believer in Student Agency - and where possible allows students to direct the course of enquiry in subject material.

 

 

 

 

Maxine Rofe

Laboratory Technician

 

 

 

Maxine thoroughly enjoys the challenges and rewards of working in Science education and has been fortunate enough to assist student projects and travel overseas to International Science Fairs showcasing Zebra Fish Research. Working on many unique projects she was fortunate to work with Dr Alasdair Wood at the Monash University ARMI (tissue regeneration) Centre with a group of students who won Victorian Information Industry Association Award and were interviewed on SBS news in the Field of Genetics. She completed a Bachelor of Science Degree at Monash University Clayton & went on to complete her Graduate Diploma in Science Education also at Monash. In late 1990, she started an irrigation business in Cheltenham, in partnership with her husband, sister & brother-in law. 2022 marks the 20th anniversary of Waterguys.  In the 1991, she commenced her first job in education at Doveton Technical School as a Laboratory Technician, Integration Aide and Office Admin Support.  She moved on as a laboratory technician at McKinnon Secondary in 2006. For several years she was a member of the TAFE Industry Advisory Panel for Certificate II & III and welcomed work placement students into science labs enabling them to complete Certificate III & IV Laboratory Technician students from Holmesglen.  She is a mother of two beautiful boys, Lochlan & William and her hobbies include gardening, paddleboarding and volunteering for Riding for the Disabled. 

 

 

 

 

Scott Harnath

Science & Mathematics

Teacher 

 

Scott joined Nossal High School in 2017, having previously taught for 3 years at another school. He is currently teaching VCE Mathematics and Physics, as well as Year 9 Maths and Science. Scott particularly enjoys assisting students to grasp complex concepts related to their understanding of how things work and how models can be used to understand physical phenomena. Outside of the classroom, Scott spends a significant amount of his time involved in sport, especially tennis, which he has been playing for over 25 years. He also enjoys the opportunity to support Nossal students to participate in interschool and house sport competitions, especially the Nossal tennis teams which he has been coaching for the last four years. 

 

 

 

Kalpana Lal

Library Technician/

Communications Support Officer

 

Kalpana migrated from Fiji in 1991 and settled in Mildura. In 1998 Kalpana started her career as a Library Technician at Sunraysia Institute of TAFE/La Trobe University Library in Mildura, where she worked for 8 years.  After relocating to Berwick in 2006, she joined Haileybury College.  In 2009, at a new Independent School, she was presented with an opportunity to plan, develop and manage a library at the newly built ICA Casey College. Kalpana brought all this acquired knowledge and experience to NHS in 2011.  She is currently managing all aspects of the Information Resource Centre and is well versed in the operation of the IRC, which entails managing records, the library management system (Oliver), responsibility for library/ teacher/student resources, administration of ordering/delivery and invoicing for all resources purchased through the IRC for the library and school, cataloguing, circulation, overdues, class and resource lists, supervision of students, training library monitors together with promoting reading culture and conducting Literature Circle Book Club Meetings.  In addition to this, she supports the Communication Team with the publication of school's newsletter and webpage event updates.   Kalpana is very passionate about her work and takes great pride in the IRC.  Come in and visit the newly transformed Library.  Need help!
