Regional Cross Country

On Wednesday 15th June, Reuben A and Olivia V participated in the Regional Cross Country Championships at Bundoora Park.

“I came 6th of about 60 to 70 kids in the same race, with the top 12 going through to the State Championships at Yarra Valley Race course next term.  I felt prepared for the race but it was still a hard feat: although it was at the same venue, the course took a different path into a much hillier track.  I feel so honored to have made it and proud of myself.

If you want to make it though to the next level of something you are passionate about, make sure you train is my advice!” – Reuben, Year 6

“The race was really hard because everybody was trying to beat everyone else to the front of race and stay in the lead.  What was great about this experience is that it wasn’t as cold as the previous race, and I knew the track because it was the same venue as Division Cross Country.  I was pretty happy with my own race even though I was puffed out because I made it a level higher than I did last year – something I would definitely want to do again. For anyone who would like to try racing Cross Country, my advice to you would be to try your best in every race and try and practice in your own time and you too can be successful!” – Olivia, Year 4

Rueben will race at the State Cross Country Championships at Yarra Valley Racecourse on Thursday 14th July.  We wish you all the very best for this next step Reuben!
