Year 7 Summit Camp

On a wet Monday afternoon, the first half of the Year 7 group arrived at The Summit Camp. Students were introduced to camp staff, general information about camp and the camps goals. Eager to get going, the tribe groups then smashed two out of the seven two initiatives. By the end of the day, students had already extended themselves further than they could believe and each group had come up with a tribe name.

On the morning of day two, the students were shown the video “20 things we should say more”, and were asked to reflect and take those values into the day’s activities. The tribes completed three epic rotations, where again students were challenged and exceeded their own expectations. After the third rotation, lunches were downed and the tribes played Tug of War to win a spot in the Monster run ahead! The anticipation was high as there was much talk about the Monster mud run. With the tunes pumping and the energy high, the groups eagerly took off and started the race. After nailing their first lap, the group were unaware they were going to run the same course twice, This was done to show resilience and teach the students that when they think they’ve got nothing left they can dig deep and still keep going. After the completion of the course the students then had the opportunity to challenge themselves in two of the mud run obstacles, the army crawn through muddy water under barbed wire and the giant mud hole challenge. Most students took up the challenge and had a fantastic time playing in the mud!

On day three, the final day of camp, the tribes completed the last two activities and induvial students were voted by their peers in their tribes as to who they thought was the overall best contributor to their groups success. Each on of these students then had the privilege to ride in a tank and crush a car!! Those students were, camp 1 – Vikky, Lilly, Shalom, Harley and Oliver. Camp 2 – Gus, Noah, Mia, Amelia, Mikayla.
