Playing with others can be challenging

Supporting your child with peer relationships when they are away from you is tough.  But there are things that we can do as parents and teachers that support this growth.

Below is an article that provides some ideas about what adults can say to support the skills that children need to use to promote positive and successful play.

There are a number of skills which we can look at when teaching children about “good play”, the article focuses on three specific ones  –

1 Helping children generate useful “rules” or guidelines to play.

2. Helping children anticipate problems and develop problem solving strategies for games.

3. Helping children generate kind sentences to use in games.

Take some time to open the article and get some tips on supporting positive relationships between your child and their siblings or peers.

Changes to Booklists for 2023

While it seems very early to be considering 2023 and the stationery that the students require.  We would like to alert parents to some changes that will be taking place.  In November this year you will be provided with a link to pre-order and pay for your child's books which will be delivered to your door.

There will also be an option to re-use or supply certain items if this is your choice.

This change has come about for a number of reasons including parent and teacher feedback around sustainability, waste and cost.  Stay tuned for more information later in the year!

Positive Camping

With Stage 3 camp and Year 2 stay over happening later this term, we would like to share with you some positive comments about how this benefitted the children who were involved.

Thank you to the parents who completed the questionnaire earlier in the year.  The data collected will help continue to improve on a program that is already valued across the school.

The students enjoyed:

Everything!! Loved the whole experience ... but mostly with all his friends and getting to

share the tent with 2 of his friends. (Stage 2 parent)

having fun with all his friends.  (Stage 3 parent)

The camp supported:

It was a confidence boost for him to sleep over at school, be with friends and he really

enjoyed himself. (Stage 2 parent)

Independence and having to ask for help when needed. Organisation skills to pack his bag

and sort out belongings once at school. (Stage 3 parent)

School Uniform Hats

Hats are required to be worn whenever students are involved in school activities held outside during the months of August to May. Students not wearing a hat during these months will be directed to a designated shaded area during playtimes.

Please ensure your child's hat is clearly named before sending to school.  Thank you.
