Selamat siang!

It’s the newsletter! Oh you’re probably not that surprised because you think it’s the same newsletter as always, well you’re wrong! This week’s newsletter is going to be much more different than all the other ones because this newsletter was the first newsletter written by 3/4H students.

In Writing, we have been making videos and posters about famous explorers like Neil

Armstrong and Jessica Watson. We are learning to share information in different ways. Some people made posters and some made news reports. Lots of students used their strength of humour to make it engaging by including bloopers, ad breaks and jokes. Dinayne said he liked writing about facts and Louis liked researching explorers.

In Reading, we focused on using keywords to visualise characters and stories. Students in the Independence Centre enjoyed listening to the story, having fun by drawing a character to look just like the picture and visualising pictures in their head.

In Mathematics, we were learning about maps because it is important if you’re lost, you can use a map and it can help you go to places. We were focusing on making maps, map features and giving directions. We made our own maps using our imagination, adventure maps, treasure maps or maps of the classroom or house. Arin liked Maths because he loved using his art skills and Brandon H liked maps because he enjoyed using his imagination.

On Tuesday last week, we had our 3/4 Winter Gala Day. Gala Day was the best day ever because we got to play different sports and also developed the skill of teamwork and learnt different skills such as kicking, shooting and passing. AFL 9s taught us about teamwork and self-regulation. Netball taught us about hand-eye coordination, defence, and shooting techniques. In European Handball, students developed their skills of running, accuracy and rescuing the ball from the back of the net. In another 10 years, with a little more practise, we think we will be able to defeat the European Men’s Team who have won lots of medals. T-ball was the other sport for Gala Day. T-ball encourages students to use leadership and help encourage their teammates, particularly when they are either fielding or batting. Thank-you to all the family helpers who came along on the day to support and encourage us. Ryan enjoyed hitting the ball and scoring home runs, Xavier liked being the goalie and Alice liked playing with her friends.

Thank- you for reading our Newsletter - From 3/4H
