Principal's New

Dear All,

There is no doubt everyone is  facing significant challenges and trying to navigate unchartered waters. It is devastating to see the news of 250,000 Victorians losing their jobs as well the rate of mental illness rise so sharplely. This week class teachers have continued to touch base with all their families to check how they are travelling and if they require anything. So if you see a 'No Caller ID' come up on your phone it may be your child's teacher.  We will continue to check in with you throughout the term.

Remote learning will continue for all students. A predictable routine with reasonable expectations will add a level of security to our children. Many of our families welcome this routine and are enjoying the time spent with their child/children and are loving the engagement and involvement in their learning, but we totally understand that there is an increasing amount of others who find helping their child/children with learning,  far too stressful at present. Just let your child's teacher or myself know if this is the case. Please keep communication open between yourselves and the school so we can all help each other out.

Antonella had a meeting with our SRC (Student Leaders) on Monday. She reported a mix of emotions with a few of the children feeling scared about COVID but mostly worrying about having the school closed and how long this will be going. But they also have the clear message that we all need to stay home and everyone needs to do the right thing.

Teachers will continue to work through some of these issues with their class and will continue with Brain Breaks and Mindfullness activites. Having said that, as I meet with lots of the students on Google Meets many are happy at home: "I get to sleep in", 'The day is short", "Mum brings me lots of food", "I can concentrate better at home", " I can stay home and spend time with my new bunny Johnny" are just some of the comments I hear.

I have attached a link to Peaceful Kids https://www.peacefulkids.com.au/

The 'Peaceful Kids' program is a Mindfulness and Positive Psychology based program to lessen anxiety and stress and increase resilience in children from Prep through to Year 12. This program helps children to build their emotional resilience so they are better equipped to deal with the day to day stresses that life brings them as well includes meditations and parenting articles. Some parents may find this helpful.

Also listed below are a couple of family activities to help promote wellbeing. They support the first three elements of wellbeing.

Onsite at Trinity

As we know and appreciate it is important that everyone do the right thing and reduce the movement of people around the community. The government has announced that schools are closed. However we have a very small amount of students onsite which require supervision.  The only children permitted onsite are

  • children whose parents are 'permitted workers'
  • vulnerable children in out of home care, children known to child protection and other agencies and children the school identifies as vulnerable
  • children with a disability who also fit one of the above two categories.

Applications with proof need to be forward directly to principal@tcs.catholic.edu.

No student without permission will be allowed onsite.

We will have a skeleton staff onsite at Trinity with the majority of staff working remotely so please be aware if you ring the office that you may need to leave a message and the admin staff will ring you back. The office will remain closed.

No School Tomorrow - Friday

Teachers will continue to undertake their First Aid Training and Emergency Evacuation Procedures Training. These are both mandatory compliance requirements which staff must undertake.

Stay Active Poster

This week Leah from 5/6JC has created a BE ACTIVE poster with new ideas on how to be active each day. Thanks Leah for sharing your ideas and poster.

Term Overviews

Please find on proceeding pages the Overviews for Student Learning for this term of remote learning.

Statement of Fees

Next week you will receive a current statement in regard to fees. At this time, when some in our school community grapple with unprecedented changes to finances, emotional wellbeing and physical health, I want to reassure families who are impacted financially by the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic that we want to assist you in every way possible to continue your child’s enrolment at Trinity. If you have concerns about your financial situation, please contact Julie in the office on 9428 7180 or email admin@tcs.catholic.edu.au so that we can explore confidential financial support tailored to your circumstances. We are absolutely committed to working with our families as we get through these challenging times.

AnnabelleMarinelli - Deputy Principal/ Literacy Leader/Research Leader

I'm Annabelle Marinelli and I'm the Literacy Leader and currently the Acting Deputy Principal. It's hard to believe that this is my 12th year at Trinity! When I'm not working with the wonderful children, teachers and families at Trinity, I love spending time with my family - my husband Marco, my daughter Ella who is 20 and studying at Monash Uni, my son Matthew who is 16 and in Year 11, and the new addition to our family - our Golden Retriever puppy Ollie who is just 4 months old. I love walking everyday and we all have fun taking Ollie to the park. I also enjoy reading, gardening, seeing my friends and going on holidays with my family. I love spending warm sunny days at the beach, I love beautiful sunsets and chocolate gelato, and I can't wait for Summer!

Lorraine Cappozzo -

My name is Lorraine Cappozzo and I have been at Trinity for some years now. I work part time at reception. Mostly my work revolves around the office but I also work with our Sustainability Leaders and manage the

Gardening Club with our fabulous gardening students. I keep myself very busy when I am not at school as I have a large garden of my own and I also love to knit and sew and read and walk and generally keep busy with my husband and daughter.  Oh! And cooking and eating … we especially like that!

Have a good weekend everyone and remember to feel free to contact me at any time if you need to discuss anything or even to share some happy or good news. I would love to hear from you.
