Snapshot from our Preservice Teacher Allison McDougall

A big hello to the RSC parents, students and staff.

My name is Allison McDougall and I am a Canadian preservice teacher from Deakin University. I am so grateful to the RSC community for welcoming myself and all other preservice teachers with open arms during this uncertain time in the world of education.

Now a little about my first week at RSC, ‘virtual learning’ edition.

On Monday, I embarked on an experience of a lifetime; joining an array of both French and Drama classes in a virtual teaching and learning setting. My journey will continue on for the next five weeks and I already feel as though I don’t want it to end!

The past week has been nothing short of ‘full on’ as they say; trying my best to get to know staff, students and trying to piece together the overall essence of the RSC school atmosphere. I must say that my amazing mentor teachers have truly accomplished amazing things by organizing engaging lessons and meet ups for students whilst also allowing me to join in and experience what virtual learning looks like at RSC.

Their efforts have made my first week one I will never forget! They are superstars and I am so fortunate to be working alongside such inspiring educators.

I cannot wait to see what the next four weeks have in store for this unique experience and I thank all of you for your unprecedented kindness and support!

Staff Huddle - Reminders of What we Have to Be Grateful For

Sometimes during the pandemic we have all had low days, and it just takes a few moments to sit and think about the things we do have to be grateful for during this time of change and challenge.

By reminding ourselves of these things, it sometimes can bring you a sense of peace and give you the energy to keep running that marathon together, one day at a time!

Staff were given this challenge this week to have a think about it, hereare some of their comments.
