ConnecTED Learning

We have had a great start to Term 3 in ConnecTED learning, beginning our new Inquiry, ‘Belief, Practice and Prayer’. Students have enjoyed commencing the lesson with Christian meditation, thinking deeply about their own beliefs and where they come from, and exploring how beliefs relate to practice. Our recent lesson on rewriting the beatitudes using examples from their own lives revealed the relevance of our Catholic faith in practice.

In the past we have used the online platform of Literacy Planet to engage students in learning and build their literacy skills. This term, we have started a trial of Education Perfect which will replace Literacy Planet. Students have completed diagnostic activities and have been allocated activities to work on that are tailored to their individual needs. These activities have been set for the term, along with regular reading of novels chosen in their library lessons and form part of their expected homework. We look forward to working with students to improve individual confidence in their literacy ability.

Finally, last term we completed our Inquiry based learning focusing on the novel ‘Look Both Ways’ by Jason Reynolds. Students were given a 30 minute challenge to represent aspects of the novel using a ‘mystery box’ of random items. A class versus class game of Jeopardy also provided great entertainment.
