Work Experience with the Monash Biomedicine Discovery Institute
Each year, more than 50 secondary school students are taken into our laboratories for a week-long placement to experience what the life of a research scientist is really like. These placements enable secondary students (15 years of age or older) to gain an insight into careers in biomedical research by allowing them to observe and participate (subject to safety considerations) in the activities of a research laboratory.
The Monash Biomedicine Discovery Institute is a research-intensive institute and our scientists focus on fundamental research questions surrounding health and disease. Consequently, students who can show a passion for science and future careers in research will be viewed favourably.
In 2022 we are offering one round of work experience. The details, including key dates, are listed below:
Dates of placement: 19th – 23rd September, 2022 Applications open: 11th July, 2022 Applications close: 12th August, 2022 Offers released by: 26th August, 2022
Work experience places in the Monash Biomedicine Discovery Institute are in extremely high demand and as a result, each school can select up to three students to apply for our program. Applications are to be submitted to Monash by Career Practitioners only.
Work Experience with NH Architecture
NH Architecture offer one week work experience placements within the Flinders Lane Studio. During that week, participants will experience what it is like to work within an architectural practice on their own architecture project.
Work experience placements are subject to the following:
- Placements are only available to secondary school students (15 years and above)
- Places are limited and not guaranteed until confirmed by the NH Architecture recruitment team. We will do our very best to accommodate all requests.
- A Victorian Department of Education Work Experience Arrangement Form must be signed by your school & NH Architecture before commencement.
If you are interested in participating in a work experience placement here, please send your application to recruitment@nharch.net, with the subject line “Work Experience Application” with a brief description of yourself, the dates you are looking to complete your work experience and why you would like to experience working in an architecture firm.
Work Experience with Services Australia
If you’re in Year 10, 11 or 12 or equivalent you can register for a work experience placement.
Placements are unpaid and run for 5 days on a full time or part time basis. Full time placements run for 5 consecutive business days. Part time placements run for 5 days spread over a maximum of 5 weeks.
On your work experience placement you’ll get:
- real workplace experience
- the chance to develop a range of skills while working on a variety of tasks
- to see the work we do to deliver vital services to Australians
- to work in one of our many offices, service centres or Smart Centres across Australia
- a greater understanding of our agency, including the wide range of roles we have, and the public service.
