News from Playgroup

St Bridget's Little Learners have enjoyed a wonderful term full of open ended play opportunities, science experiments and finishing with a Teddy Bear's Tea Party.

It has been a joy to watch all the children immerse themselves in all the wonderful play opportunities that our space has to offer.

As always, craft is well loved in playgroup. Last term we worked on an ongoing art piece that we will eventually be displayed in the room. This gave the children an opportunity to have an art experience that offered continuity each week, whilst also offering a new experience each week by changing the tools on offer to paint with. We used a wide range of materials to apply the paint and also a range of different paint materials too. Using bubble wrap to create a pattern was a favourite activity.

The children also created their own individual pieces that we could take home.

We were lucky enough to have some of our students from Years 3/4 and 4/5/6 join us in playgroup to demonstrate and help the children create some different science experiments. It was lovely to watch the older children take pride in showing the little learners how to create their own science reactions.

First the little learners watched the older students complete the experiment and then it was their turn with the support of their adult.

To celebrate the end of term, we all enjoyed a special teddy bear tea party together. We each brought plates of food to share and of course we couldn't forget to bring along our favourite toy as well. The children enjoyed using real tea cups and saucers and sharing a meal together.

Recently we were fortunate enough to receive a visit from Jane Lemon and Gabi Vascotto from Melbourne Archdiocese Catholic Schools (MACS) who run the Supported Playgroup in Catholic Education (SPICE) program. Jane and Gabi provided us with some wonderful feedback about our playgroup space and the activities which we provide. The input they gave us was invaluable and we look forward to welcoming them back in the future.

Looking forward to playing with all our Little Learners next term.

Kind regards
