YEAR 5 EISTEDDFOD

Yesterday our Year 5 Choir participated in the Tamworth Eisteddfod singing two contrasting pieces, "What Shall We Do With The Drunken Sailor" and "With A Little Help From My Friends."  We took home the Highly Commended Award in our section and were proud of the way our students have practiced this term and performed on the day.

We would like to thank Mrs Julie McGuirk and Mrs Annette Hamilton for conducting and accompanying the choir.  This was a wonderful effort from our Year 5 students who should be extremely proud of themselves.

YEAR 5 NUNDLE EXCURSION

Last Friday, the 10th of June, students donned their woolly coats and went on the bus, headed for Nundle. After an hour of singing on the bus, we finally arrived. After a short play we were off to our first destination. We visited the exhilarating Mount Misery Gold Mine where we learnt about all of the different kinds of living conditions as well as the objects they used in their daily lives. Students walked around as we learnt fascinating new facts about life on the gold mines. We walked around the display showcasing how they would work, or the wives life at home. We saw how blacksmiths and miners worked, and the drawings back then were drawn with detailed lines. Did you know Nundle means ‘mouth?’

Another exciting destination we visited in Nundle was the Nundle Woollen Mill. Walking in through the shop, we were met by a guide who showed us different types of wool. The greasy wool, the fluffy wool, and the yarn. There were a few stations we had to visit. Some of which include; a vintage machine that turns the wool into a thin sheet, a dying and drying station and finally one that puts it into its yarn state. One thing that we took away from that experience was that Nundle is a Spinning Mill that makes wool stronger, along with many other facts.

To summarise; we all had an awesome time at Nundle. We loved every bit of it, along with many other students. After another play, we were back at school with lots of lovely memories in our heads.

We loved our time at Nundle!
