Program

The general purpose of this course is to provide the skills, knowledge and attitudes for training in acting for film and television. The course has also been written to create career opportunities for peripheral creative industries. It also promotes pathways into tertiary education.

The first year focuses on an overview of the film and TV industry, governing bodies, film and tv careers and skills, types of auditions, audition preparation, script knowledge and development, skills and abilities for acting in front of camera. Practical filming lessons alternate between theory lessons.

The course provides opportunities to visit on set locations, practical filming lessons and sessions with industry guest speakers designed to ‘meet-and-greet’ those who actively work in film and television

The second year focuses on rehearsing and performing scripts, performance in front of  camera, screen tests, rehearsing and filming scenes and styles, protocols and knowledge of the film and TV industry, camera techniques and filming styles.

Students elect one extra unit of competency with each having a focus on a specific part of the industry; presenting to camera, directing, make-up, technical (camera operator, editor, lighting, CGI special effects) and audition and casting.

Program

Provides students with the knowledge and skills to achieve competencies that will 

enhance their employment prospects in the agricultural industry. The course aims to provide students with knowledge and skills in a range of basic agricultural practices, including aspects of plant production. 

Structured Workplace Learning (SWL)

Structured workplace learning is an important part of any VETis program and provides:

• Enhancement of skills
• Practical application of industry knowledge
• Increased employment opportunities  

Contribution to the VCE

On completion of this program, students are eligible for 3 VCE/VET units at Unit 1 / 2 level and 2 VCE/VET units at Unit 3 / 4 level.

The contribution to the ATAR is as follows:

• Any contribution to the ATAR is subject to satisfactory completion of the Unit 3 / 4 sequence
• Students who successfully complete the unit 3 / 4 sequence will receive one ATAR increment. This is calculated as 10% of the scaled score of the student’s fourth primary VCE study.

Contribution to the VCE-VM/VCAL

On completion of the program students are eligible for four credits towards their program, two at Unit 1-2 level and a Unit 3-4 sequence.

Program

Take the nationally accredited Certificate II in Animal Studies and start your carer as an animal attendant in an animal shelter or veterinary clinic.  Turn your passion for animals into a career as you gain practical skills and build industry relationships. Through theoretical and practical coursework, you will learn to:

• Provide care to a range of animals
• Monitor and maintain animal health
• Practice hygiene and infection control
• Respond to expectations of pet owners
• Understand what is required in running a small companion animal business.

What to bring

Students are required to wear appropriate clothes and footwear for working with animals. Students also must have a copy of their current tetanus vaccinations.

• Strong foundation to continue your studies

APPLIED FASHION -VCE (VET)

Program

The VCE VET Applied Fashion Design and Technology program aims to:

• provide participants with the knowledge and skills to achieve competencies that will enhance their employment prospects in the fashion, clothing and related industries; 
• enable participants to gain a recognised credential and make a more informed choice of vocation and career paths. 

The main focus of this program is the design and sewing of clothing products.

What to bring

Students are required to purchase a folio and sewing kit. Details regarding the requirements for the kit will be provided on enrolment. At least 4 garments will be expected to be made per year and therefore material will need to be purchased throughout the year.

The program aims to provide students with the knowledge and skills to achieve competencies that will enhance their employment prospects in the clothing or clothing related industries.

Structured Workplace Learning (SWL)

Students are required to attend 40 hours (1 week) of SWL in their first year.  A Logbook will be provided.

Students undertaking this course are required to undertake 40 hours of structured workplace learning, which contributes to the completion of the competency, “Work in the textiles, clothing & footwear industry”, and provides an opportunity to demonstrate competencies acquired off the job. During this time students will be required to complete work place activities.

AUTOMOTIVE STUDIES - VCE (VET)

Program

Automotive studies – Mechanical - This program will offer students the opportunity to incorporate a VET Certificate II qualification with their VCE or VCAL studies. The program provides an excellent opportunity to gain employment in a wide range of automotive and marine trades. There is a growing demand for apprenticeships in this industry and employers are using this program as a benchmark when employing new apprentices.

Training and Employment Outcomes

Mechanical - The primary purpose of this qualification is to provide a pathway for participants into a traineeship or apprenticeship in the automotive mechanical repair industry. There are several streams including: light vehicle mechanics (passenger cars and small commercial vehicles; heavy vehicle mechanics (truck, earth moving, farm machinery); and marine mechanics.

Program

This course includes the following units of competency:

• Carry out maintenance and/or component servicing operations;
• Identify automotive parts, components, accessories;
• Carry out minor repairs to electrical circuits and systems.

AVIATION (Remote Pilot) - VCE (VET)

Program

Remote Pilots operating at this level will apply non-technical and technical knowledge and skills to demonstrate autonomy and judgement and will take limited responsibility within established regulatory parameters.  This qualification is relevant to individuals operating remotely piloted aircraft (Drones) within visual line of sight, below 400 feet outside of controlled airspace, greater than 3 nautical miles from an aerodrome, outside of populous areas.  Remote pilot duties include applying technical and non-technical aviation skills and knowledge.  Students doing this qualification will also complete the requirements for certification by the Civil Aviation Safety Authority (CASA).

Training and Employment Outcomes

Program

Students do not have a lot of opportunities to experience and learn about a range of vocational options before having to enrol in a particular trade stream whether it be at a Certificate II level or an Apprenticeship. The aim of the Construction Pathways program is to provide a multi-industry experience so that students are able to make a more informed choice about what trade/industry they may like to pursue.
