Welcome Back

Welcome back to all our Scotsburn families, ready for a big Term 3. We hope everyone managed to have a restful and enjoyable break. This term will be once again full of wonderful learning experiences and we can wait to get started!

Please make sure throughout the term to continue to read all sections of the school newsletter each week as well as regularly checking Compass for any updates. This will ensure that you are able to keep updated with all happenings across the school, as well as making sure that no important information is missed.

In a few weeks time, we will host our first parent morning tea for the term. More information on this will be sent out in the coming weeks. We look forward to seeing as many parents as possible there.

Have a wonderful week!

Wet Weather

Over the wet months, if you would like to send a spare pair of gumboots with your child, you are more than welcome to. They can be left at school if that is easier, or they can be brought to and from school each day. It is also a great idea to make sure your child brings their jumper each day and a warm black coat where possible. We are experiencing some very chilly days at the moment!

SC1 Learning Snapshot

A big welcome back to all our families. I hope everyone had a wonderful break. We have a lot of extra curricular activities this term so please keep your eyes on the newsletter each week and on Compass for information. Next Friday 22nd July, we have an excursion to the Ballarat Wildlife Park. Please see Compass to give payment and permission for this excursion.

This term, our integrated topic is creatures great and small. Students will broaden their knowledge around Australian native animals including the features, diet, survival techniques and their habitats. They will apply their knowledge through simple research and report writing skills. We will kick off the unit with our visit to the Wildlife Park where students will be able to see and explore Australian animals through real life connections.

SC1 have set a at home reading goal this term for 30 nights. This means that we are encouraging all SC1 students to read for a minimum of 30 nights throughout the term. More would be great too! Students also discussed that if the reading goal is met, what we can do to celebrate… stay tuned to hear some of our student persuasive pieces on what we should do to celebrate.

Thanks,

Ana

SC2 Learning Snapshot

Welcome back SC2 families! This term we have lots of exciting activities and events coming up, none more than our camp to Queenscliff later in the term! It has been wonderful to see everyone again back at school, displaying such wonderful learning behaviours.

A massive thank you must be given to the Eustice family for their amazing care of the chickens over the break. We truly appreciate your help and support.

We can’t wait to get into the exciting term ahead!

Thanks,

Dani

SC3 Learning Snapshot

Welcome back to everyone in SC3! This term we are excited to begin our theme of “A Complete and Utter Disaster!”, focusing on natural disasters and the role humans play in these. Students are very excited to dive into learning all about this, which is fantastic to see.

This week, we will also be finishing off our first-person narratives from Term 2, ready to publish and showcase next week. We are also completing our presentations of our animal dioramas, which look incredible!

Term 3 for SC3 will also have a large focus on organisation and student ownership of learning. We will be looking to develop our skills in all areas of organisation, in particular homework habits and maintaining personal property and equipment. Any assistance from home in this area will be greatly appreciated, even just discussing how your child is going in this area.

Have a great week everyone!

Thanks,

Jarrod

Wonder White Recycling

A huge thank you to everyone that has continued to support our bread bag recycling initiative. Please continue to save all those bread product bags. Our box is nearly full!
