Specialist Report
Japanese
The students in Years Five and Six have been learning to ask and answer questions about the weather - something I'm sure we have all been talking about over the last few icy cold days. Well now the Five / six students can do it in two languages which is a great achievement!
The Years Three and Four have been working hard on learning how to say, read and write the fruits of 'The Very Hungry Caterpillar' in Japanese. Soon they will be constructing full sentences which is really something to look forward to!
The Years One and Two classes have been learning how to say, recognise and write some farm animals from 'Old MacDonald had a Farm'. We will soon be able to sing the full song together.
The Foundation students have been learning how to recognise the words for 'Kobuta, Tanuki, Kitsune, Neko'. Ask them to give you a rendition; there isn't much that is cuter!
All in all, another fantastic week in the classroom. がんばってくださいね!

Visual Art
Foundation students have been practising their fine motor skills in art, by painting with their finger tips and cotton buds. They have then learnt how to create backgrounds to complete their artwork ready for display. You can see their wonderful Mix-Up Chameleon’s in the BER building.
Grade 1/2 students have been exploring with using different tools to create texture. They learnt about the Indigenous artist Fiona Omeenyo and how she scraps paint to make textures and patterns on her work.
Grade 3/4 students learnt about composition and have begun finalising their Australian Bee mixed-media artwork.
Grade 5/6 students are working hard on their projects. They had the opportunity to select a medium of their choice, drawing, painting and sculpture, and then began making their Australian animal themed artwork. Students have been working on these projects for about 4 weeks.

District Cross Country
On Tuesday, the 24th of May, our Cross Country Team competed in the EDPSSA Cross Country Competition. We had 30 students represent our school and all of them shone brightly in the autumn sun. Our little shining stars ran their hearts out. With all students finishing the 2km and 3km courses inside the top 40 out of 60 competitors. We had some stars shine so brightly that they have qualified to compete at the Combined Division Cross Country Championship. Congratulations to Molly Bremner 1st 12yr girls, Milla Watts 4th 12yr girls, Mason Goddard 8th 11yr boys, Patrick Lonergan 2nd 10yr boys and Hudson Parker 9th 10yr boys.
A huge thank you to Heath Henry and Danielle Ali for the wonderful Aberfeldie Marquee. It is wonderful to have such a fantastic marquee for all our sporting events. It was great to see so many parents who came along to support our Cross Country Team and a special thank you to Nicole Bourke who was our parent volunteer for the day.
Aberfeldie Football Club Donation
Aberfeldie Football Club donated approximately 50 football jumpers to our 5/6 APS Football Team. A huge thank you to Aberfeldie Football Club for their generous donation. Our football team looked and played brilliantly in them!
