Year 1/2 Report

Throughout this term, the Year 1/2s have been going through the Writing Cycle process to publish their writing. Their writing has been on the topic of animals, linking to our inquiry unit on animal habitats. The Writing Cycle process starts with brainstorming and connecting our ideas to the topic. Then, through explicit modelling and practise, students begin writing their own information report on animals. This process continues, with students revising and editing their writing to correct any mistakes and improve their writing piece. Students also conference with their peers and their teacher to receive feedback. Then students are ready to publish!

Below are some of the front cover designs of the Year 1/2 animal information reports. This 8 page booklet includes information on their selected animals, such as where they live, what they eat, and other interesting facts.

Last week was Education Week, and this year's theme was '150 Years of Public Education', which gave students a chance to commemorate the past, celebrate the present and imagine the future of education in Victoria. Students in Year 1/2 explored how much schools have changed since their grandparents, parents and teachers came to school. They then imagined what school would be like in the future, and created a ‘classroom of the future’. Below the Year 1/2A students are designing their classroom of the future with their 5/6A buddies.
