O Sacred Heart of Jesus I place all my trust in you.

Feast of the Sacred Heart

Over the next two weeks, classes will be visiting 'The Loft' space to gather in prayer focused on the Feast of the Sacred Heart. The actual Feast Day is June 24th, the last day of term.

The prayer in the space is focused on the parable of the 'Lost Sheep' from Luke's Gospel. The focus is not finding lost things, but the joy of belonging and coming back to be with Jesus and His flock.

After visiting 'The Loft' each child will bring home a small red heart, to place in their room somewhere where they will see  it...maybe on their desk, beside their bed, hanging on the wall. When they notice it they are encouraged to think of the joy of being a part of God's family and the joy of experiencing Jesus' love.

O Sacred Heart of Jesus I place all my trust in you.

Mary Help of Christians

On May 24th each class visited the Church to pray and celebrate the Feast of Mary Help of Christians, the patroness of Australia. We gathered around the Mary statue with the crown of lights, which is such a beautiful part of the COHR Church. Our prayer focused on how we can be helpful, what we need help with and we also thought of someone in our lives who may need Mary's help.

Everyone lit a candle as we prayed Mary's special prayer together.

Hail Mary, Full of Grace, The Lord is with thee.
Blessed art thou among women, and blessed is the fruitof thy womb, Jesus.
Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us sinners now, and at the hour of our death.
Amen.

Sr Dr Mary Glowery

Fr Raju has gone back home to India to visit family over the month of May. One of the highlights of his trip was visiting the tomb in Guntur of Dr Sr Mary Glowery. He shared some pictures with me, so I could share them with you.

Dr Sr Mary Glowery was an Australian born in 1887, she was the first Sister doctor. After travelling to India Mary Glowrey provided and oversaw medical care, particularly for marginalised women, and she worked collaboratively with others to establish healthcare systems and facilities that benefit millions today. She died in 1957.

Her cause for canonisation opened in 2010, it is now in what is called the 'Roman phase'. We hope and pray that she will become Australia's second saint.
