Principal's Message

From the Principal

Dear Parents and Carers,

They were all filled with the Holy Spirit”

On Sunday we celebrate the feast of Pentecost – one of the most important feasts that the church celebrates. The word Pentecost comes from the Greek for fiftieth day. Pentecost Sunday ends the season of Easter and comes as a Sabbath day after seven weeks of seven days. In Jewish tradition the 50th day after the Passover was celebrated as a blessing of the harvest and rather than the unleavened bread of Passover it was celebrated by leavening the bread. When the disciples realised that they had received the Holy Spirit, as promised to them by Jesus, they commenced their mission of spreading his message to the world. Pentecost also reminds us that we are also gifted with the Holy Spirit. So we, like the disciples, are called to live out our lives in a particular way, reflecting the words and actions of Jesus.

Let us pray for continuous Pentecosts in our midst and in the universal Church. There is no better way to do so than in the words of the ancient prayer:

Come Holy Spirit, fill the hearts of your faithful

and enkindle in them the fire of your love.

Send forth your Spirit and they will be created

and you will renew the face of the earth.

Election Day Fundraiser

Sincere thanks to the many parents who assisted at the Election Day Fundraiser. It was a huge success, not just financially but more importantly as a community building event following the pandemic. It was encouraging to have so many parents helping right throughout the day, right up to the clean up. Thank you all so very much.

FETE Update

I am very grateful to Sarah Arnott who has volunteered to Coordinate this year's Fete.

Sarah will certainly be looking to our parent community for their support in making this year's Fete a community success.

Thank you to those parents who attended our first Fete meeting last week. We discussed the various possibilities for this year's stalls, particularly around rides, food stalls and amusement/fun stalls. The next Fete meeting will be held next Tuesday 7th June at 7pm in the staffroom. All parents are welcome to attend.
