Principal News

Dear Sacred Heart School Community,

Can I say firstly, thank you all for your kind concern for our staff and students who have contacted Covid over the past few days. As with the general public, our staff and students are sick to various degrees and all have different symptoms. Like you, our thoughts are with them all as they battle the symptoms of Covid.

Even though I have been contacted earlier today by Ann to say she

has now tested positive which brings the number of teaching staff affected to six, we are committed to keeping the school open for as long as it is safe and feasible to do so.

I have been contacted by a number of parents who have made the decision to keep their children home because of Covid concerns and others who have very kindly decided to keep their children at home for the remainder of this week to assist our school. Whatever decision you make we are most respectful of. We are committed to ensuring all our students at school are diligently supervised and that learning continues with as little disruption as we can manage.

Can I inform our community that we now also have another case in Year Three/Four with one of our students testing positive yesterday.

To our Year Three and Year Five parents and guardians, as notified yesterday we have postponed the NAPLAN tests until next week (Monday and Tuesday). However yesterday we were informed that the writing test must take place this week. The writing test will be undertaken by our students in Year Three and Year Five on Thursday (12th May) at 9.15am.

Please take care.

Yours sincerely,

Mark Tierney
