Students Honour Anzacs - Article from Star News

For the second time, Killester College VCAL students ran a full Anzac Day ceremony at St Joseph’s Primary School on Friday 29 April.

Killester Year 11 student Eden respectively wrote and recited her own prayer, followed by student Despina with her own original poem ‘Remembrance’.

Year 11 leaders Chloe Tran and Nina Tabakovic were masters of ceremonies.

Vietnam Veterans Association of Australia state vice-president Brendan Kincade was interviewed by students about leadership and the importance of Anzac Day.

The Killester College students also ran classroom activities with St Joseph’s Year 3 and 4 students.

Below is a letter from the Vietnam Veteran who attended the ANZAC Ceremony run by Year 11 leaders and VCAL on the 29th of April.

Dear Mrs Scott,

I would like to convey my very deep thanks for the opportunity to be part of your ANZAC Service.

Your Senior students did a remarkable job with the organisation of the day and the involvement of the younger students from Saint Joseph’s Primary School. All those actively involved did a magnificent job and are to be congratulated.

I was quite humbled by my inclusion and the respect I was shown by everyone on the day.

I would also like to sincerely thank all your students who wrote me a letter following my talk with them at Killester. They are a wonderful group of ladies who all contributed to our session and made it a success.

I thank you for the opportunity to attend.

Kind regards,

Brendan Kincade
