The Regional Engagement Enterprise

Mrs Sue‑Ann Gavin, Director of TREE

The beautiful change of seasons has seen a quick shift in not only our wardrobe choices but also our surroundings.  We are so very lucky in Orange to truly experience four distinct seasons.  The autumnal foliage is so iconic to the region and we have been treated to a visual display like no other.  The frost has seen our market garden transition to winter veggies and of course our gigantic pumpkins are ready to harvest.

We have had a new addition to Windermere – Petunia is a 12month old Jersey Heifer, she is kind, gentle and very inquisitive.  It is hoped that Petunia will allow our students to try their hand at milking and we are planning to work with SJ at Second Mouse Cheese Co to create our own cheese products.

Year 12 Hospitality have been exploring all that the region has to offer in the food industry.  Front of House tours at Oriana and Agrestic Grocer as well as workshops and demonstrations from local professional chefs.  These experiences are integral to our TREE philosophy as they link contextual hands on learning experiences with the place in which we work and learn, making the most of the opportunities that we have regionally.
