Music News

Anzac Day

Congratulations to our Marist musicians who performed the Last Post at dawn on Saturday morning. These boys and staff have represented the College admirably and provided a moving tribute to their local communities. Here is a compilation of musicians from Years 5 to 12 and a few staff showing their community spirit through music. Watch this space for more videos of Marist Musicians performing in a “virtual” ensemble from home!

Concerts

Information regarding music concerts for the remainder of this term and year will be published via the usual channels (College App, Newsletter and weekly timetable email). At this stage, all events are still on hold until further restrictions are lifted by the Government. We are hoping that some concerts may be rescheduled where possible when we return to school.

Instrumental Music Lessons

We would also like to take this opportunity to thank you all for your support in the continuation of Instrumental Lessons while Learning at Home. The success of these lessons would not have been possible without your support and our dedicating teaching staff. Thanks to all. For those who were required to take a break from lessons during this time, a subsequent email will be sent out to confirm the continuation of lessons.

Queensland Catholic Colleges Music Festival 2020

We are saddened to pass on the notice that the 2020 Queensland Catholic College’s Music Festival been cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Although it is not until mid-August, the decision has been made due to the uncertainty of future travel restrictions and social distancing measures.

As always, please feel free to contact the department with any further questions musicstaff@marash.qld.edu.au
