An Evening with Ross Huggard

We were excited to welcome many families last Monday evening to our discussion with Mr Ross Huggard, educational consultant and former VCAA English Chief Examiner.

Ross shared with the group his perspective and advice designed to assist families navigate the pathway through to the external exams later in the year. Advice was given on strategies that families and students could employ to ensure that students could be at their best during this vital time.

Mr Huggard also talked in depth about the structure of the external VCAA English exam and how students could best prepare to manage this three hour marathon.

BSC staff and students will continue their work with Mr Huggard as part of our strategy to improve our VCE results. Improved skills in English have a direct impact on communication skills which of course provide direct benefits to all subject areas with positive implications for life beyond school.

Feedback from the evening has been positive and we look forward to providing more opportunities to showcase the efforts of our staff and students here at the college.

Students Driving to School

The College recognises that some students will turn 18 and obtain a drivers licence while still attending school and my want to drive to and from school. The College obviously expects that all student drivers will adhere to the conditions of their licence and the road rules and will always drive in a safe and responsible manner. Students are not permitted to drive any other students of any age (apart from siblings) to or from school unless the College has received written permission from each of the students parents/carers. Students are not permitted to use their car during the school day unless it is for an approved reason such as an unavoidable medical appointment. If students act within breach of "The Student Drivers Policy" parents/carers will be notified and appropriate student sanctions will apply.

The College appreciates parent support in upholding this policy.
